What We’re Building
We are currently building the platform Hartford Artists have been asking for. It will include up-to-date information and resources (with a particular focus on post-Covid 19 re-opening); a gallery of Hartford’s public-facing art and events; a robust calendar of happenings; an artist directory; a community forum; event reviews; and a curated retail space of art and other creative products made right here. We’ll be rolling these features out in stages, so follow us on social media to be in-the-know and to be the first to benefit from our community genuinely coming together.
Our Intentions
Appointed by the Mayor’s Office, the Commission on Cultural Affairs champions Hartford creativity in all its forms. We collaborate to bring more and more public art and cultural activities to the city. We lift up our artists and look for ways to connect them to each other, to what’s happening in the city, and to the world beyond our 18 square miles. We advocate for creative expression as a way to spread love and connection among our neighborhoods. We fight for the preservation of Hartford’s many cultures and for the quality of life for our artists—in particular to combat the inequities experienced by our BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ creative forces. We are a diverse team, an open and inclusive bunch, and full of passion. We’re here to roll up our sleeves and interject a sense of wonder and possibility into our community.
